Close Call

Hopefully I'm not the only one who has "I'm-such-a-horrible-parent" moments. You know, when you think, "I can't believe that just happened!" or "I can't believe what just almost happened!" I'm talking about dangerous things happening to my children... because I'm not watching them carefully enough. For example, babies falling off beds; or a small child licking a razor, eating lanolin, or tasting diaper rash cream.

Do you know what this is?

It's one of those little metal ends of a dressmaker's measuring tape. Yesterday Joshua managed to take it off, put it in his mouth, and choke on it. Luckily, it came back up.

Whoa that's scary!! Glad he's ok. I think we all have those moments! Last Saturday we were coming home from Wal-Mart and Abby starting saying, "BUCKLE, BUCKLE!" So Paul looks back there and I had forgotten to strap her in!!! AHH! It was definitely one of those "I can't believe what could have happened" moments! Such a gut-wrenching feeling, ya know?

As I was reading the close call you had with Joshua it made me remember that I needed to peek over at Ezra - He was a little quiet. Lo and behold, he had a giant piece of chalk in his mouth, gnawing away! I guess I need to re-baby-proof my house, now that he can crawl and find things.

Licking a razor blade?! Who did that!? Scary with the choking thing, glad it came back up. I didn't ever think about the end coming off. Crazy! Mia's been putting change in her mouth lately...it's only a matter of time until she chokes. Dang boys need to stop emptying their piggy banks!
